Crimson Moon combat guide

Choose a safe opening, keep a way out, and make your gear support the attacks you actually use.

In Crimson Moon, dodge attacks marked by a red aura, time parries just before contact, and reserve stamina for your next defense. Use short Light Attack sequences while learning a fight; commit to a charged Heavy Attack when you have a longer opening. Weapon Arts need mana.

Choose your defense before your next attack

On a red cue, move out of the attack with a dodge. For a parry, watch the enemy animation and press just before the hit lands. A miss costs both health and the stamina you may need to escape; repeating the same failed timing is a reason to reset your position.

Stop sprinting before contact so stamina can recover. If you open with a sprint attack, judge the distance first: a missed lunge leaves you exposed. After a mistake, regain spacing instead of chaining evasions until the bar is empty.

Match the attack to the opening

Light Attacks let you poke and reposition, and can be canceled with a dodge or parry. They are less effective against shields. Use a charged Heavy Attack when the target is depleted or focused elsewhere; its longer wind-up gives enemies more time to interrupt you.

Choose a Weapon Art for its job: reach, status application, a group of enemies, or support. Check both mana and cooldown before planning a follow-up. Switching weapons also changes which Arts you have available.

Prepare for a boss attempt

Use an attempt to identify what stops your progress: an unfamiliar attack, an empty resource bar, or a build effect that never activates. Change one thing for the next attempt so you can tell whether it helped. A kill-triggered heal may help on the way to the boss but provide nothing against a lone target.

Check the gear you can actually equip before copying a complete loadout. Our starter build includes alternatives for missing gear; the Frost build explains its sprint trigger and its limits.

Successful parries and executions charge Angel Ascension. Once a stage is full you can transform; additional stages extend it. Ascension clears negative effects and changes your Arts, so learn those replacements before relying on them in a difficult encounter.

These are general combat principles and an approach to practicing encounters. They do not establish a particular boss's weakness, attack sequence, or guaranteed opening.

Combat questions

Can you block red attacks in Crimson Moon?

A red aura signals an unblockable attack. Dodge out of its path rather than relying on your guard, and avoid spending all your stamina on repeated dodges.

Why can I not use my Weapon Art?

Weapon Arts consume mana. Check your mana, the Art's cooldown, and which weapon set you are holding. A build's gear list does not make its Arts free to cast.

How do I charge Angel Ascension?

Successful parries and executions fill the meter. You can transform after filling one stage; saving more of the three-stage meter gives a longer transformation. Ascension also clears negative effects.
