Last Stand

Two Boons switch on at the same 40% health, and everything else is there to keep you sitting on it.

Featured loadout · Crimson Moon Forge

Most defensive builds try to stop you ever getting low. This one accepts that you will and makes the bottom of your health bar the strongest place to be: at or below 40% you gain +40 Physical Defenses and start regenerating 1% of your Health every second, at the same time, from two separate Boons that happen to share a threshold. The rest of the build widens the band that sits under 40% and turns the damage you are taking into resources.

Why these choices

Effects are quoted from the database, so you can check each claim on the page it comes from.

  • Last Bastion gives a +40 Bonus to Physical Defenses and Last Light recovers 1% of your Health each second, both while your Health is at or below 40%. They are separate Boons with the same trigger, so the moment one starts the other does too. (Quoted from the game's own localization, which words Last Bastion's threshold "at or below"; the wiki's copy of it says "below".)
  • Medallion of Last Light guarantees Last Light rather than leaving it to a Nexus Gate — which matters more here than usual, because half the build's idea does not work without it.
  • Amulet of the Divine guarantees Radiant Fortitude: +50 Max Health. On a build that lives in a percentage band, a bigger bar makes that band physically wider — 40% of more health is more health.
  • Martyr's Gift recovers Mana equal to 25% of the damage you take. It is the only Boon in the list that turns being hit into a resource rather than a cost, which is what makes a slow fight sustainable.
  • Executor's Strength grants +5 Max Health per execution, so the bar grows across a mission and the regen band grows with it.
  • Shield of the Zealot carries Angelic Bulwark: a zone of defense on the ground for you and your allies. Two of the 28 Weapon Arts do anything defensive at all — this and Empower, which raises your Defenses and Damage together — and this is the one that holds a piece of ground rather than buffing you and moving on.
  • Aegis is the armoured Sigil — the Warrior — rather than Sunder's ranged Arcane. Nothing here wants range.
  • No defence totals are quoted above because none are published for a whole set. Open the build in the Loadout Builder and it adds up the per-piece figures the game's own files give.

Make it yours

Nothing here is fixed. There are no classes in Crimson Moon, so every slot above is a choice you can change — and half a build is decided during the hunt anyway, at the Nexus Gates. Post what you end up running.
