Crimson Moon Classes
There aren't any. Here is what replaces them, and how to build without one.
Crimson Moon has no character classes. You always play a Nephilim — a human-angel hybrid — and there is no class to pick at the start and no skill tree to commit to. Build identity comes from what you equip and what you pick up: weapons and their Weapon Arts, armor, trinkets, Boons found mid-run, and your Angel Form.

What does the job a class would
Six systems, and a build is a combination of all of them. The counts are the documented totals in our database.
| System | Documented | What it decides |
|---|---|---|
| Weapons and shields | 50 | Each carries a Weapon Art — the special attack that most distinguishes it. Swappable mid-combat. |
| Weapon Arts | 28 | Bound to a weapon, used on a cooldown. Choosing an Art means choosing its weapon. |
| Armor sets | 33 | Four slots each — helmet, chest, gauntlets, legs. |
| Trinkets | 63 | Each grants a specific Boon, which is how you guarantee an effect instead of hoping for it. |
| Boons | 91 | Picked up during a run at Nexus Gates. The reason two runs with the same gear diverge. |
| Angel Forms | 2 | A temporary transformation you charge by fighting. Chosen by your Angelic Sigil. |
Why a classless system changes how you plan
Three consequences that catch people coming from a Souls-like with stat allocation.
Nothing you equip is a mistake you have to live with. There is no class to regret picking. A build is the loadout you took into a run, and the next run starts fresh. The Nephilim does have six underlying attributes — Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Vitality, Endurance and Willpower — and weapons carry a stat scaling factor, so they are not cosmetic. Whether you allocate them or they rise with your level is not something we can confirm yet, so this page does not claim either.
Half your build is decided during the run, not before it. Boons are picked up at Nexus Gates as you go, so the loadout you choose is a starting position rather than a finished build. Two runs with identical gear can end up very different by the time you reach the boss.
The reliable part of a build is your gear. If a specific effect matters to your plan, the way to guarantee it is a trinket that grants that Boon outright, rather than hoping the run offers it.
The closest thing to picking a class
If you want one decision that shapes how you play, it is your Angel Form.
Your Angel Form is chosen by the Angelic Sigil carved into your Nephilim, and the two documented forms pull in opposite directions. Aegis, the Sigil of the Warrior, specialises in direct battlefield combat and overwhelming force. Sunder specialises in ranged Arcane combat and outmanoeuvring its targets. That is the nearest Crimson Moon gets to a class choice — and unlike a class, it is a transformation you spend at a moment of your choosing rather than a permanent identity.
Common questions about classes
Are there classes in Crimson Moon?
No. Crimson Moon has no character classes — you always play a Nephilim, and there is no class to pick. Build identity comes from the equipment and abilities you choose: weapons and their Weapon Arts, armor, trinkets, Boons found during a run, and your Angel Form. The character does have underlying attributes — Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Vitality, Endurance and Willpower — but they are not a class, and how they rise is not yet documented.
How do you build a character without classes?
By choosing equipment. There are 50 weapons and shields, 33 armor sets, 63 trinkets, 28 Weapon Arts and 91 Boons documented, plus 2 Angel Forms. A build is a combination of those, and because Boons are picked up mid-run, two runs with identical starting gear can end up playing very differently.
Can you respec in Crimson Moon?
The question does not really apply, because there is nothing to respec into. There is no skill tree or class to undo — you change your build by changing what you equip at the Loadout Station before a run, and every new run starts with a fresh loadout anyway.
Is there a best class in Crimson Moon?
There is no best class because there are no classes. The nearest equivalent question is which Angel Form and weapon combination suits you: Aegis for direct melee pressure, Sunder for ranged Arcane damage and mobility.
